This past week voters in State Representative District 47 received a “push poll” that relayed false information linking the campaign of Jim Caffrey to the Illinois Speaker of the House, Michael Madigan. Anybody who knows Jim or has followed this campaign understands there is no association. “I have no connection to the Speaker and I’m not receiving any funding from the Democratic Party of Illinois.” Caffrey stated. “In fact, I was endorsed in the primary by the Chicago Tribune, the Daily Herald, and the Chicago Sun Times in part because of my opposition to Speaker Madigan.”
Caffrey is running to serve the residents of this district with a dedication to, and optimism about, the future of Illinois. For nearly a year, Jim has walked the district, connecting with people by knocking on doors and holding coffees. His priority is public service. The very core of his campaign is made up of three issues relevant to the residents of the IL-47th:
- Selecting a new Speaker of the House;
- Putting an end to gerrymandering; and
- Getting our fiscal house in order.
Caffrey’s campaign urges voters to be wary of “push polls” and asks his opponent’s campaign, or whoever is conducting them, to put a stop to these false and negative attacks. The people of this district deserve better.
The 47th District runs along the eastern portion of DuPage County and includes all or portions of Elmhurst, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, Westmont, and Downers Grove. It also includes a small portion of Western Springs in Cook County.
