Jim Caffrey, candidate for Illinois State Representative in the 47th district, is opening the doors wide at the new election headquarters located at 538 W. St. Charles Ave., Elmhurst.
The new location is capping a successful summer effort of door-knocking, phone-banking and fund-raising by Caffrey and a local group of grass-roots volunteers. “We continue to see an out-pouring of support, both financial and boots on the ground,” Caffrey said. “The campaign needed a physical location to handle all of the activity and volunteer support. The space will be incredibly valuable for the final three weeks of the campaign.”
To accommodate volunteers’ schedules, the office will be open from Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
The blur of activity that can be viewed through the window includes writing postcards, phone banking, sign assembly and delivery, letter writing and social media postings. The office is staffed, and all visitors and volunteers are welcome.
Caffrey is a former businessman, Peace Corps volunteer, and national political organizer. The 47th District runs along the eastern portion of DuPage County and includes all or portions of Elmhurst, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, Westmont, and Downers Grove. It also includes a small portion of Western Springs in Cook County.
